Six Months of Floor Protection During Renovation

What happens to temporary floor protection over a long renovation? At this project, Novafloor protection sheets remained in place for about six months while ceiling plastering, painting, tiling and built-in cabinet installation took place. The protected areas also saw regular foot traffic, tools and building materials.

After that work, the sheets showed wear and some edges had begun to lift. That appearance does not, by itself, tell you the condition of the flooring underneath. The team lifted part of the covering to inspect it and reported that the exposed flooring showed no visible scratches or renovation damage in the area checked.

What the inspection shows

This project illustrates why floor protection is installed before work begins and checked as the site changes. Its surface may become marked or worn while it takes the contact that would otherwise reach the finished floor. Lifted or damaged sections should be inspected and secured or replaced as needed so the intended areas remain covered.
